If you're looking for a rewarding opportunity to work with sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, and have a knack for explaining math concepts like decimals, place value, and estimation, you've found the right place. Our amazing volunteer tutor base represents a wide spectrum of professional industries and disciplines; from finance, graphic design, science, law, education, and medical research, Top Honors attracts bright, community-minded volunteers from all over the city.  High school students from the city's top math and science schools as well as graduate-level students also make up part of our volunteer roster.  While previous teaching or tutoring experience is helpful, it is not a prerequisite to apply as a Top Honors tutor.  Rather, we value patience, dedication, and enthusiasm in working with middle school math students.

The 2011-2012 tutoring program runs from October 22, 2011 until the first week of June 2012.  Top Honors recruits tutors on a rolling basis throughout the school year and seeks candidates who can commit to the same weekly session for the entirety of one or both the fall and spring academic terms (full updated calendar schedule can be found here).  All tutoring sessions take place on the Upper West Side in Manhattan on the following days and times:

Session 1: Saturdays from 10:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Session 2: Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Session 3: Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesdays are currently full.

If you would like to apply as a volunteer, please submit an online application and we will contact you when we schedule our next orientation and training session.

If you cannot commit to weekly tutoring, we encourage you to help us in other ways, such as curriculum development and fundraising.
