Tutors Who Work Hard, Dine Hard

Our volunteers are, simply put, the best.  They are the crème de la crème, the bestest of the best, the amazingest of the amazing (reminder: we are not ELA tutors).  They deserve mountains of praise.  And food.  You know, to fuel all the math calculations they work through with their students every week.

Earlier this week, after a long day of working their full-time professional jobs, tutors convened to participate in a PD session*.

After which, they threw on their coats, battled the cold outside (high was in the low thirties that day!), and whisked off for an Italian feast together.  Much merriment was had by all.  Frenzy ensued when a colossal dessert consisting of a banana split parked high atop a dense chocolate cake was presented to each table.

Rest assured that not a single tutor was injured during the destruction of not one, but two, of Carmine's famous "Titanic" desserts.

* In addition to mandatory training for all new volunteer tutors, Top Honors provides Professional Development (PD) sessions.  In these group settings facilitated by current NYC teachers, school administrators, or education experts, tutors explore effective teaching techniques, discuss ongoing challenges, and stay apprised of headlines in the NY education system.
